Jenny Lake and horseback riding

Monday was a fun filled day!  We had bought OJ and milk in order to have a breakfast of granola bars on the go.  We wanted to take advantage of SC time to get up early for hiking, but the communal kitchen at the Hostel was locked until 7:30.  So we ended up going to a restaurant and buying more drinks to supplement our breakfast bars.  Our early start now meant we arrived at Jenny Lake at 8:00.

We hiked around the lake instead of taking the boat shuttle. It wasn't too strenuous and it was an interesting hike.

When we arrived on the other side of the lake, we then hiked to Hidden Falls.  I love waterfalls and this one did not disappoint!!  It was roaring and beautiful...maybe it was full because of snow melt.  Or maybe it is always this full of water.  Either way, it was awesome on that day!

Dave did get a new t-shirt on Sunday and was able to wear a different shirt on Monday!

We then took the trail to Inspiration Point, and even though it was a little sketchy at one point with a narrow rocky trail on the side of the mountain, it was so worth the hike!

Marmot sighting!

We hiked back down, and that is one regret I have in our schedule.  If we could have hiked another 4 miles, we would have made it to the snow and a view of the glacier.  I wish we had done this on Sunday because today we had to get back in time for our horseback ride.  So we will just have to hike further on our next visit!

We also got a phone call on our way down to let us know that Dave's luggage would be at the airport that day!

We made it down the mountain and to the boat shuttle in time to be able to hop on and get a ride across the lake.  It is a pretty ride with more great views!

On the way to picking up Dave's luggage, we made a few stops!

The ice in the middle is actually a glacier

We stopped at Menor's Ferry...well what used to be the ferry across the Snake River

What the ferry looked like

The Church of the Transfiguration
This is still an active church....

but with this view behind the pulpit, I don't think I could concentrate on the sermon!

After getting Dave's luggage, we went into Jackson to eat lunch at The Bunnery.  With my new huckleberry interest, we got a huckleberry cream cheese croissant after our grilled cheese type sandwiches.

Then we changed clothes and headed to Idaho and Linn Canyon Ranch for our horse back ride.  After driving the steep Teton Pass, I was very glad we had changed our plans from staying in Idaho the entire time!  We rode horses for about an hour.  I had Levi and Dave had Bunny.  Then we had a fabulous dinner!  The appetizer course was outside in their very cute yard and involved three yummy appetizers!!  Then we went inside for the salad, main course and dessert.  Dave had filet mignon and rhubarb pie, and I had salmon and chocolate torte.

We ended the evening with a drive into the park to look for moose at dusk. We didn't see any moose, but did see three elk.  So our wildlife sightings for the day included antelope, elk, a marmot, chipmunks, and deer.  And we got Dave's luggage!
