The best dinner!! And a prom-posal!

Wednesday night we treated to dinner at Raul's parents' house.  They were very gracious and welcoming to us!  Before dinner, we were able to walk around Macas. Natalie and I had the mission to buy some very pretty roses for $3...they will be seen at the end of this blog!

Amy and Nathan hanging out in Macas!

Our touring group..Brianna, Allen, Mitzi, Alexia and Nathan
(we had a photobomber little boy!)

At the top of the mountain is a statue...like in Quito

One of the schools Alexia went to when she lived in Macas

We were able to look in the cathedral...Our Lady of Macas.  The stained glass windows inside tell the story of a picture of Mary that the Spaniards brought to Macas and how it saved the town.

A water fountain in Macas

There was a parade that we could see from the balcony of the Gomez house.  It was pouring rain, but they had the parade anyway!

The Gomez house was above a Chinese restaurant which was beside this ice cream store
Our phone carrier switched to Moviestar in Macas

The dinner we were served was absolutely wonderful!  We had steak and shrimp and mashed potatoes!  There were several courses.  We also had some type of dessert and fried plantains.  We all cleaned our plates!  And were very stuffed!

Back to the roses!  Although we thought Alexia saw us, Natalie and I managed to buy flowers and get them hidden at the house without her seeing them.  After dinner, most of the youth went up to the balcony with Nathan so he could prom-pose!  It was their 9 month dating anniversary, so his sign had check marks beside 9 months and Ecuador, with a question mark beside Prom.  Mitzi got Alexia to go to the balcony with her.  Marlene and I were not allowed to go to the balcony, but the youth that were up there said the prom-posal was very sweet and many of them were in tears.  So Nathan did a good job!  Alexia's grandparents were confused about what was happening...probably thought this prom-posal thing is silly!  But it worked and she said yes!  Not many people get asked to Prom while in another country!

Raul getting between Nathan and Alexia!  Good dad!!

After dinner ice cream

After dinner, Nathan we got ice cream and I bought two movies for $1.50 each.  Don't ask!  The Stars Wars movie (the newest one) had an English setting that made the movie fine to watch, but the words at the beginning are in Spanish!  I had better keep learning the language!

Tonight was the first time I had a hard time sleeping.  My hands hurt and bothered me so much that it was hard to sleep!  But tomorrow breakfast is at 8:30!!  Sleeping in!!
