Saturday was our first day outside of the Grand Canyon and it was in Page, AZ. There were so many people in Page that day, especially in our hotel at breakfast! We had several things planned and we started at Glen Canyon Dam since it was near our hotel. This was also our first glimpse of Lake Powell.

We then headed to the secret cave behind the Shell station. This was on the list thanks to Instagram photos. But also, beside the Shell station was the place where I ran my Lake Powell half marathon. So much sand!! Fond memories of one of my hardest races because of all the sand!

When we got in the cave, a lady was able to figure out how to take the IG photo. Unfortunately for Jennifer, I wasn't able to take her photo that way!

Our picture before we knew where to stand. Still a pretty view!
After we got out of the sand, we headed to Horseshoe Bend. This was another crowded spot, especially with people taking many posed pictures. We were starting to get a complex about how lacking our posing skills were! But Horseshoe Bend was pretty enough to make up for our lack of modeling skills.
When I was in Page for my half, our lunch was at a Mexican restaurant that had great fries! El Tapatio. I don't like beans and rice and usually buy al la carte items, but this restaurant gave you an option of getting fries instead. And they are really good...along with good tacos!
After a good lunch, we hit the Powell Museum, except we didn't want to pay to go in.
Then it was time for the real reason we stayed in Page... Antelope Canyon. I had seen pictures of slot canyons before, and the real thing did not disappoint!
Our guide through Antelope Canyon. The canyon is on Navajo land, and you can only go in the slot canyons with their permission.

Our day in Page had been fun, but we needed to get to Bryce Canyon, and it was an almost 3-hour drive. We wanted to get there, check into our little cabin and get some dinner. We were staying in Tropic, UT and there were not many restaurant options. One was closing and one had run out of food, so we ate at the Rustler. It was not the best meal. I actually wasn't sure what I was eating!
Our final activity for the night was star gazing...well at least we tried. It was too cloudy even though the sky was very dark. Our one night in Utah was a cloudy one, but the next day in Bryce Canyon with the hoodoos would be prove to be great weather and more great views!
