On the way to Oz, I persuaded the girls to stop at one of the waterfalls in my NC waterfall book. Of course, this was after our lunch stop in Columbia, SC at Devine Cinnamon Rolls Deli. The sandwiches were, well, divine, and they gave you a cinnamon roll on the side!
After our lunch, we drove to NC and stopped at Silverdale waterfall, a roadside waterfall. My book actually said that you should not make a special trip for this waterfall, we went 15 minutes out of our way, because it did not have a lot of water. But I think recent rains made it more impressive than the book described.
Such a fun group of ladies!
This waterfall wasn't too far away from Boone, which was our next stop. We drove to Howard Knob Park which has a cool overlook. We got a good view of downtown Boone before it got dark.
Dinner that evening was at the Dan'l Boone Inn. I had eaten there before and I really wanted to go again. This restaurant served one menu for dinner and it was served family style. And all you can eat. We were served ham biscuits, fried chicken, mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, and some super delicious corn. And that is not all! We also had dessert. We were super stuffed but very satisfied when we were finished.
