Camden's Senior Trip Part 3, Celtics Game

On Monday, March 10, we got to see the Celtics play and win!!  They were playing the Utah Jazz and the game was close.  But they pulled it off!  A great first game at TD Garden for Camden.

But of course, we had lots of sights to see before we even got to the game.  Our first stop was the Boston Tea Party Museum.  They gave us all patriotic identities and then let us throw the tea into the harbor.

After we finished spilling the tea, we hopped on our Old Town Trolley tour bus.  The first stop where we got off was in the North End because we were ready for lunch.  We went to lunch at Regina's Pizza and it was awesome.  This restaurant has been around since 1926!

The skating rink where Nancy Kerrigan practiced

Rob Lowe ate at this restaurant!!

The North End neighborhood

Our next stop off the bus was at the Cheers location.  This is the pub that the TV show was based on.  You can eat there, and they have a set you can take pictures in.

Where everybody knows your name

Across the street from Cheers is the Boston Public Garden.  The swan boats were there this time of year, in fact, there was not water in the pond due to them cleaning it.  But the duck statues from "Make way for Ducklings" were there and dressed up for the White Swan ballet that was in town.

The empty pond, with some snow left

The next stop for us was near the Christian Science Center so we could see the Mapparium globe.  It was really cool and was the world map from 1935.  When you stood on one side and whispered, people on the other side could hear you.

The next stop was to see the finish line of the Boston marathon, but the driver was so insistent that the library was a must place to visit, that we did!

The first free public library

Inside the library.  Very ornate, but people still use it

I guess this shows that people who don't give up will finish the Boston marathon, except turtle slow people won't qualify to run it!

I bought a Boston shirt at the Marathon Sports Store near the finish line

Our last stop was the closest stop to the TD Garden and near where we were going to eat dinner.  We almost ate the oldest restaurant in America but decided to eat at the slightly cheaper oldest tavern in America, Bell in Hand.  It was established in 1795 and has been in three different locations.  But is has been in the present location since 1844.  So old!  So much history at this tavern!

I got another lobster roll for diner

The oldest restaurant was established in 1826

Then it was time for the game!!  We had nosebleed seats, but it was still exciting to be at the game in person.  And the Celtics won 114 to 108.  It was a good game!

The game was a great way to spend our final night in Boston!  We had not made a clear plan on how we were going to get back to the hotel, but we knew we wanted to get away from the crowds before trying.  In the end we walked the 2.5 miles back to the hotel.  Good thing we packed our walking shoes!!
