Lobster rolls, covered bridges and an Olde Tavern

Thursday, September 10, 2026, we all flew into Providence, RI. Mom and I got there a little before Jenn and got the car and donuts in time to get her.

We were all ready for lunch as soon as possible and we found the best place possible for our first meal of our trip. We went to Dunes Brothers to get lobster rolls. And they were delish! We also got clam balls; and I got clam chowder. Everything was so good. The restaurant was more like a food truck and it was great weather for sitting outside and enjoying our lunch.

After touring Providence accidently since we took a wrong turn...

...we got on the road to Vermont. Most of the drive was through Massachusetts, but when we reached Vermont, we got to stop at a really nice welcome center.

After that, we left the main highway and took back roads to see three covered bridges.

The first bridge we saw was the Creamery Covered Bridge. This bridge is no longer in use, but really pretty.

The second bridge we saw we got to drive over. It was the West Dummerston Covered Bridge and it is a one way bridge.

The last covered bridge we saw and drove through was the Williamsville Covered Bridge. It was the least cute of the three bridges, but still cool.

As we drove through the backroads and villages on our way to Manchester, we saw lots of beautiful flowers and cool buildings. And we had our first shopping stop at Dutton Farmstand to get a ginger cookie and maple candy.

Many churches had flat steeples.

We also saw a ski jump. Definitely not something we are used to seeing!

We arrived in Manchester after a day of driving through the villages and mountains of Vermont. We were able to walk around the town and then eat at Ye Olde Tavern.
