Middle of the World

 

We had a surprise outing due to change in schedule and got to go the Middle of the World museum on the Equator.  This was my third visit, but it was still fun.  My favorite part is always the shrunken head exhibit!  Especially the shrunken sloth.

There are a lot of hummingbirds in Ecuador

After learning about the peoples of Ecuador, we then went to the Equator line and did some fun experiments.

After standing in both hemispheres at one time, we got to see how water swirled different ways in sinks on either side of the equator and did not swirl on the line.  We also got a chance to stand an egg on its end and walk the line with our arms out, eyes closed and looking up.  That was hard!  I didn't do the egg again as I have done it before, but we had two people in our group get their egg certificate!

After the Equator tour, we got empanadas for a snack.  But I wanted to try all three types, so it was really my dinner!

It had been a great week of ministry and this last outing was a good way to say goodbye to Ecuador.
